Hi there! Welcome. My name is Megan, I’m the body behind the camera and the racing brain behind this creative business. I’m asked often what “EightEighteen” means .. naturally a smile creeps on my face and i’m immediately excited to tell a new person my journey.
Everything began when I was *eight* years old. My step dad handed me a book about photography from 1972 and a 35 mm film camera from 1944. I still remember sitting in the back of our family Buick flipping through this musky little book with dusty yellow pages as we headed into town from our family farm.
I spent most of my childhood running wild and barefoot through the rolling hills of beautiful small-town Madison County. Where being a strong community is #1 and cheering for the Mountaineers is a close #2. I don’t remember a moment of my life where I wasn’t doing something creative and I feel like this dreamer mentality has lived inside of me since I was a small child.
When I turned *eighteen* years old, my amazing mother gifted me my first DSLR camera. It was a Nikon D3100 and it came with a standard kit lens. I don’t think I put that camera down a single day for the next 3 years. I mostly photographed my own life, my adventures, my friends, my family. I had absolutely zero idea what I was doing with this amazing piece of equipment, however I practiced daily and I grew my own eye for photography.
My work originally began under M. Bruce Photography in 2012 - then was rebranded as EigthEighteen in 2014. It’s been a long journey and i’ve spent a lot of years really investing in my self as a photographer and as a business. Giving my clients a wonderful experience is something that i’m extremely proud to do. I love taking portraits and I love showing my daughter that dreams can come true.
I hope that you’ll join the family as one of my very appreciated clients. We’re going to have fun, we’re going to laugh, and i’m going to capture you as the amazing authentic person you are.
xoxo, megan
